iPhone Jailbreak
by Ryan on Feb.06, 2010, under Technology
I finally caved. I went 18 months without jailbreaking my iPhone. Mainly because it does most things very well, and for the things it doesn’t do well or doesn’t do at all there’s the App Store. Lately Steve Jobs and I haven’t really been seeing eye to eye (Stupid iPad. Stupid Apple’s stance on Flash on mobile devices and their stance on putting Blu-ray in Macs), so I decided to take a look to see if the grass truly is greener on the other side.
While there’s not a lot of extra things that I can do with a jailbroken phone that I care about, there are a few items which are must haves now that I’ve crossed over to the dark side. I can basically sum it up in these two screenshots:
Custom themes, customizable live weather icon, battery life percentage, 5 apps in my dock and SBSettings which allows to me to toggle features on/off and kill processes. I could also add the ability to send processes to the background, but I’m not interested in that feature at the moment because with my lowly 3G it just doesn’t have the memory to handle much more.
